These are the features and user manual of an application I have developed. Clock for android. This app for redefines time management by combining an Alarm Clock, World Clock, Timer and Stopwatch in an attractive and easy to use interface. Features
Alarm clock features:
- Turn off the alarm when you turn on the light in the room, so it will be easier to turn off the alarm, especially if you prefer to have the telephone not too close to where you sleep. In addition, also being the light of the room turned on will help you not stay asleep

Alarm list
In this screen you can see the alarms you have defined. Inactive alarms are displayed with light gray text and the colorless clock. To activate or deactivate an alarm simply press the clock icon.
In each alarm you can see:
- Alarm time
- The days of the week that the alarm is on. For example in the first alarm of the image you can see that the alarm is set for: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday while the second alarm is only set for Monday
- Name of the alarm. The name of the first alarm in the picture is "Wake up" and the name of the second alarm is "French".
- If the alarm is repeated weekly. If it is repeated indefinitely week by week an icon appears to the left of the name of the alarm indicating that the alarm will repeat every week for the indicated days. For example in the first alarm of the image the alarm will be repeated indefinitely every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday while in the second alarm the alarm will be repeated indefinitely on Mondays. If the alarm does not repeat indefinitely once the alarm has sounded the current day is cleared and if there are no longer established days the alarm is deactivated.
- Whether the alarm is active or not. Active alarms are displayed with bright black text, days on which the alarm is on to blue and the clock with the handle and bells red. Inactive alarms are displayed with light gray text and the colorless clock. To activate or deactivate an alarm simply press the clock icon.
To view all the details of an alarm or modify it just press anywhere on the alarm in the list and you will access an alarm edit and definition screen.
To delete an alarm you have to press the alarm in the list for a few seconds and the pop-up menu will appear and give you the option to edit or delete the alarm.
To add a new alarm just press the (+) icon at the top right and you will be taken to the alarm definition and edit screen.
Create and edit alarms
In this screen you can view and edit all the properties of an alarm.
Alarm time and day definition
In this area the time and days of the alarm are defined.To select the time press or move the handle until the time you want to set the alarm. The inside hours circle is for the AM hours and the outer circle for the PM hours, for example if you want to set the alarm at 2 o'clock in the morning press or move the handle until 2 but if you want to set the alarm at 2 o'clock in the afternoon press or move the handle until 14. Once the alarm hour is selected, the clock changes from hour selection to minute selection.
Now you just have to press or drag the handle until the minute you want to set the alarm. At the top is the hour and minute the alarm is set.
Below are the days of the week on which the alarm is set. To activate or deactivate a day, just press on the corresponding day button. If the button is active, its background is blue and if it is not active the background of the button is white.
If you select the "Repeat Weekly" option the alarm will be established indefinitely for the days marked. If you do not select this option once the alarm sounds, the corresponding day will be deactivated, if there are no active days, the alarm will be disabled.
In the example above the alarm is set for: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30 in the morning for every day indefinitely, that is every week forever.
Definition way of mute or postpone alarm
In this area you can set the way you want to silence or postpone the alarm.
Mute or snooze alarm by getting light
If you Activate the option "Silence or snoooze alarm by getting light" when an alarm is sounding to silence it or to postpone it, you only have to turn on the light of the room. The device detects that the light is on and the alarm stops ringing. You can set the light intensity necessary for the device to detect that you have turned on the light and therefore stop sounding. Dragging the "Light sensor sensitivity" bar to the left the sensor will be less sensitive and more light intensity will be needed to silence the alarm.
You can also set if you want the alarm to be turned off or to be put off and sound again in a few minutes when you turn on the light pressing the "Mute" button to turn off the alarm or "Snooze" to delay and re-sound in a few minutes?. The selected option will appear with a blue background.
For this functionality is active your phone or device must have a light sensor installed. It is also necessary to not cover the light sensor of the device, many phones use a protective cover that can cover the sensor not allowing capture the change of light.
Mute or snooze alarm by shaking the phone or device
If you activate the option "Mute alarm by shaking the device" when the alarm is sounding to silence or postpone it, you only have to shake the phone or device.
You can set if you want the alarm to be turned off or to be put off and sound again in a few minutes when you shake the device pressing the "Mute" button to turn off the alarm or "Snooze" to delay and re-sound in a few minutes?. The selected option will appear with a blue background.
Using the Volume Button
Phones and tablets usually have a button on one side to increase or decrease the volume. On many phones this button along with the power off button are the only physical buttons present. When the alarm is sounded you can use this button to turn it off or to snooze it.
If you press on the "Volume button usage" area will display a pop-up menu that allows you to select if you want to press the volume button to turn the alarm off, to put it off and re-sound again in a few minutes or to have no effect.
Specification and ways to display the alarm
The default way to display the alarm when activated is by a tone or melody, but you can also use phone vibration or flash light.
In addition you can configure the sound specifying which tone you want it to sound, add a music file to sound like alarm, volume and many other details.
Alarm Tone
You can choose from the different tones installed on your device to sound like an alarm. Pressing the "Alarm Tone" area displays a pop-up menu that allows you to choose between different tones.
You can also add a music file and use it as an alarm tone by clicking on the "add" button in the popup menu and a file explorer will be displayed to be able to select the music file that you want to set as an alarm tone. This way you can wake up with your favorite music. First you have to give permissions to the application in order to access the files on your device.
Alarm type
If you press on the "Alarm type" area, you can choose when the alarm is activated between the device just sounds the set music tone, the device vibrates or the device sounds the set music tone and vibrates.
Volume
You can set the volume at which the alarm will sound, for it just drag in the the "Volume" area the bar to the right to increase the volume and to left to decrease it.
Incremental volume
If you activate this option regardless of the volume level set in the previous step, the alarm will start with a low volume and will increase slowly until reaching the maximum level.
Camera flash light
Alarm can use the camera flash light turning on or blinking helping you wake up. You can also set the time between the flash light starts and the alarm starts ringing, this way you can wake up gently or if you do not sleep alone avoid waking the other person.
Press on the "Camera flash" area and a pop-up menu will appear. You can choose whether you want to disable this option, that the light turns on continuously until you turn off the alarm, or that the light blinks until you turn off the alarm. Also below you can choose the time from when the flash light turns on until the alarm starts ringing.
Be careful if you use this option and you have enabled the option to mute alarm by getting light. The flash light in principle does not influence the sensor because it is a light coming out of the phone but if it is reflected in a mirror or a reflective surface it can get caught by the sensor and the alarm could be turned off.
Alarm name
By pressing the "Name" area you can set the name of your alarm. In the list of alarms the name appears in each alarm, so you can differentiate them. Put a descriptive name that indicates each alarm for what it is.
Snooze alarm settings
If you press on the "Snooze alarm settings" area, a pop-up menu will appear and you can set the time it takes for an alarm to sound again once you have postponed it.
When the alarm is sounding if you press the button (zZ) or perform any other options that you have set to postpone the alarm (shake the phone, switch on the light, press the volume button) the alarm will be silenced and will sound again in time that you choose here.
Alarm duration settings
If you press in the "Alarm duration settings" area you can set how much time the alarm will remain sounding if you not silence it before.
If the alarm starts ringing and you do not take any action on the device the alarm will sound for the time you set here and then it will be silenced and stopped ringing.
Ringing alarm
When the time comes and the alarm starts ringing a screen like this will appear:
At the top you can see the name of the alarm and the time that is defined.
By pressing the button (X) for a few seconds, the alarm will go off.
By pressing the button (zZ) for a few seconds, the alarm is postponed and it will sound again in a few minutes (time you can set in the creation and definition of alarms).
Along with this screen will sound the tone or melody that you have set at the volume that you have configured. The device vibration or camera flash light will also be activated if you have set the alarm with these options.
If you have set the alarm to turn it off or postpone it by: turning on the room light, shaking the device or pressing the volume button and perform any of these actions the alarm will silence and will close this screen.
Clock
This screen has two sections:
- Local time
- World clock
Local time
The upper part shows the current date.
The analog time is shown below and the digital time is shown at the bottom. The format in which the digital time is displayed depends on how you have configured the clock in the configuration section: 12 or 24 hours.
World clock
You can add any city in the world to see its time at any time. To add a new city, press the + button at the top right of the screen. A screen will be displayed to search for the desired city.
Type the name of the city in the search box at the top and the cities that match the typed city will appear at the bottom.
Press the corresponding city and it will be added to the world clock list on the clock screen.
To remove a city from the list you just have to drag it to the side.
To sort a city and place it before or after another, you have to press and hold that city for a few seconds and without releasing your finger on the screen move it up or down until you place it in the place you want.
Timer
The application allows you to add as many timers as you want.
You can pause the timer and resume it whenever you want.
By clicking on the timer name you can customize the name to distinguish it from the other timers you have active.
Pressing the button: +1:00 adds one minute to the countdown.
Sliding the screen to the side allows you to switch between active timers.
To delete a timer you just have to press the Delete button.
To add a new timer press the + button at the top right of the screen.
Once you have chosen the hours, minutes and seconds click on the Start button and the timer will be activated.
There are three buttons with the preset time so you can set your timer more quickly.
When the timer finishes, a musical or alarm tone will sound to alert you that the timer is complete.
To stop the alarm tone and remove the timer press the stop button.
If you press the +1:00 button instead of the stop button, the timer is reactivated from 1 minute. If you want to add more minutes to the timer, press the +1:00 button more times.
If your device has the screen off and the timer expires, a screen like the one below will appear where you can stop the timer or restart the timer from 1 minute.
Stopwatch
Features:
- Ability to add laps to your stopwatch
- Ability to pause the stopwatch
- Graphically displays the difference between your current lap and the previous one
- Ability to share your results with your contacts by Email, WhastsApp, Twitter..
To start the stopwatch press the central play button. Once started the central button changes to pause button. If you press the pause button the stopwatch stops and the accumulated time until now flashes to indicate that the stopwatch is paused. When the stopwatch is paused, the share button appears at the bottom right. The share button allows you to share the time and result of each lap with your contacts by Email, WhastsApp, Twitter, ...
When the stopwatch is started the lap button appears at the bottom right of the screen. Pressing this button adds a record to the lap list of the stopwatch. This record indicates the lap number, the time to perform the lap and the total time when the lap was completed. When you add a lap, the difference between your current lap and the previous one is shown graphically and the time of the current lap is added at the bottom of the progress circle.
To reset the stopwatch press the reset button, this action erases all accumulated laps and sets the stopwatch to 0.
Settings
To access the configuration of the application in the main menu press the settings option
The settings screen is divided into 3 sections: General, Alarms and Timers
General
This section affects the entire application. Here you can configure the format in which the time will be displayed. The time can be displayed in 12 or 24 hour format.
- 12 hour format example: 05:00 PM
- 24 hour format example: 17:00
Alarms
This section only affects the alarms part. Here you can configure:
-Default clock style:
When you create an alarm, the alarm time selector can be displayed in analog or digital form. Here you can set which of the two options will be displayed by default when creating a new alarm.
-Hide the clock type choice:
When you create an alarm you can choose the type of time picker is analog or digital. If you already have your preferred format, you can configure the default clock style in the previous section and hide the clock type option. In this way, the time selector with your preferred format will be displayed on the creation or editing alarm screen, forgetting about the other format.
-Start week on:
In this section you can configure the day on which the week begins. By default this value is taken from the configuration of your device.
Timers
This section only affects the timer part. Here you can configure:
-Timer tone
You can choose the tone that will sound when a timer has been completed. You can also add a music file and use it as an timer tone by clicking on the "add" button in the popup menu and a file explorer will be displayed to be able to select the music file that you want to set as an timer tone. First you have to give permissions to the application in order to access the files on your device.
-Timer volume
Here you can set the volume at which the completed timer tone will sound.
-Preset timers
When you set a timer you have to select the time with which you want to start it. In the time selector there are three buttons with a preset amount of time, this way it will be easier and faster to set the timer
The time value you set here will be what the buttons will have when setting a timer.
Permissions required by the application
- Take photos / record videos: The application does not take photos or record videos, but it need access to the camera to check if your device has flash light installed and the application can use it to turn it on and off to help you wake up.
- Read the contents of the SD card modify or delete the contents of the SD card: It is needed for you to be able to choose and set your alarm tone from an mp3 or music file that you have stored on your device or in the external memory of your device.
- Set an alarm: Required to set alarms.
- Executed at startup: Required for when you turn on or restart the device re-set the alarms that you had defined.
- Prevent phone from sleeping: Required for when the alarm rings the phone or device do not enter in idle mode and stop ringing, so it make sure that the phone rings until you silence it or the time that you have defined as the maximum time for the alarm sounds has passed .
- Control vibration: It is required to be able to vibrate the device.
- Internet access: In order to search for cities in the world and their timezone and to receive and view ads it is necessary to connect to the internet.
